Yesterday I attended a meeting of the Olympic Legacy Board at Weymouth. This is the board which is working to ensure Dorset gets the best possible legacy from the 2012 games. On my way I was impressed to see progress on the biggest single legacy: the Weymouth Relief Road. It is particularly good to see the care which is being taken to minimise the impact on this sensitive piece of landscape. And it’s on course to be open for the games. Much of the length is in West Dorset District and I well remember the efforts we made to ensure this route was included in our Local Plan back in 2006.
